Digital downloads and gaming cartridges will be used with the NX. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about Nintendo using cartridges. Back in May, fans peeped a preview of cartridges with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It’s a change from the usual downloads and discs. Due to the use of cartridges there aren’t any plans to allow backwards compatibility.

The NX is powered by Nvidia’s Tegra mobile processor. Although we are familiar with Nvidia’s work, it is hard to compare the graphics of the NX to other consoles because of the gaming cartridges. However, Nintendo isn’t looking to compete with the current graphics of most games; NX is it’s own device with its own standards.

It is said that the unveiling of the NX will be moved up, and the date is set to be sometime in September. After the marketing nightmare with the Wii U, Nintendo is planning a simpler route with the NX.

The next Mario and Zelda Breath of the Wild is set to release alongside the NX. A few Wii U games that will make an appearance on the NX are: Splatoon, Smash Bros and Pikmin 4.
