The news comes from the official PlayStation Twitter account. Mark Cerny, lead system architect on the PS5, will shed new light on what we expect from the next-gen system. Presumably, it will be much more detailed than what we already know, and it will expound upon the information Cerny has already shared over the past several months.

Though some of the PlayStation 5’s capabilities have been revealed, and Sony has said the system will be backwards compatible, we still don’t know the system’s full specs or if it will be compatible with all previous PlayStation generations, as has been rumored.

Microsoft, on the other hand, has been much more open about the Xbox Series X, Sony’s primary next-gen competition. In a recent blog post, Microsoft shared the full specs of the Series X, alongside a bevy of information shedding new light on the system. It will be fully backwards compatible with the Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, and it will feature a welcomed game-upgrade system, among other things.

While it might be too much to ask that Sony reveal a slate of PS5 launch titles, it’s rumored that Ratchet and Clank are due for a revival on the system. We already know that Godfall will be a launch title for upcoming platforms, even if the gameplay we’ve seen isn’t representative of next-gen capabilities.

As of this writing, Sony still plans on releasing the PS5 sometime this holiday season, though the specific date remains a mystery. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more on the PlayStation 5.
