Each team comprises of six players; four that were voted for and two additions that were chosen by each respective team captain. The nations and regions that will participate are the Americas, Europe, and the Asia- Pacific area.

The competition will begin in September, and teams will take part in single elimination online qualifiers. These online events will be set in best of three rounds.

Finally, in November during BlizzCon 2016, the remaining 16 teams will battle it out for the championship. Battles will take place in a round-robin format and will be single elimination.

Blizzard has also committed themselves to have fair representation of all the major regions of the world. As such, they’ve guaranteed that six teams will be from Europe, six from the Asia-Pacific, and four from the Americas will comprise of the top 16.
